From the M6, exit at Junction 36 and follow the A591 towards Windermere.
Continue through Windermere on the A591 towards Ambleside.
You will go through Troutbeck Bridge and then past White Cross Bay Caravan Park on your left.
Continue on a few hundred yards and you will see a large brown sign on the roadside saying ‘Lake District Visitor Centre – 300 yds on left’.(this is Brockhole).
Immediately after that you will see a blue circle sign with a white arrow at a traffic island in the middle of the road.
Turn IMMEDIATELY RIGHT before the sign up a tarmac drive – you need to drive through the gate at the left hand side (sometimes closed!).
The back door to Pudding Cottage is on your left opposite the communal parking area.
If you come to Brockhole - the Lake District Visitor Centre on the left hand side of the road - then you have overshot by a few yards and will need to turn around in their car park and come back on yourself.
